Contemporary dance was developed in the mid twentieth century. It is considered as a dance form of self-expression and allows the dancer to delve deep into their creative skill set, interpreting movement in a completely unique way. In form, Contemporary dance rebels against the restrictions and set ways of Classical Ballet. It is unconventional and provides a platform for a dynamic way of performing.
Our Contemporary dance classes explore the free nature of the style and incorporate other elements of dance such as Modern Jazz, Ballet and Street Dance. There is currently no exam work involved within this class, instead we work on projection, performance, dynamics and emotive dancing.
